Spring Awards Ceremony

 

Please join us on Wednesday, May 9 for our Spring Awards Ceremony. Local Equations and Sweepstakes awards will be given, along with recognition for the national qualifiers and 2012 AGLOA Outstanding Senior and Sponsor award recipients.

The ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9 at Brother Martin High School, 4401 Elysian Fields Ave., New Orleans, LA 70122.

NOAGL Senior is Louisiana Student of the Year

 

Jennifer Tu, NOAGL and Ben Franklin High School senior, has been selected as the Louisiana Department of Education’s high school 2012 Student of the Year.

Tu is a longtime Academic Games player and two-time Propaganda Academic Games Leagues of America national champion.

NOAGL Strategic Planning Task Force

 

In February, the New Orleans Academic Games League formed its first strategic planning task force. The task force is responsible for establishing NOAGL’s mission, future, and value statements, as well as a 3-5 year strategic plan. August 1, 2012 is the target deadline for completion of the statements and the plan.

The task force is comprised of board members, coaches, parents and educators. They are Michael Batterman, Julie Bourgeois, Michelle Douglas, Dwayne Fontenette (chairman), Br. Neal Golden, Gretchen Lowe, Tom Waguespack and Craig Zeller.

The task force held its first meeting on March 19.

Elem & Mid Final Equations, Sweeps & Nationals

 

The last round of Equations competition took place today, ending another season of NOAGL Tournaments. Students from our Elementary and Middle Divisions competed valiantly to contest for highly coveted spots to the AGLOA National Tournament. Check our Results page for a complete listing of Equations winnersNationals qualifiers and the final sweepstakes winners.

Congratulations to Jackson Bourgeois, Linda Denson and Nate Stewart for their perfect Equations scores. Their teams from Lusher and Ben Franklin Elementary will playoff to determine the overall 1st place team.

Special recognition goes to Angelle Keller for winning the Middle Division Equations Tournament with the only perfect score and for leading her team from St. Charles Borromeo to a Middle Division Team 1st Place.

Jr & Sr Final Equations, Sweeps & Nationals

Congratulations to Maggie Dowling in Junior Division for her outright win individually in Equations. Also, a special congratulations is due to Jesuit’s Junior Division team and Brother Martin’s  Senior Division team for their dominating presences this year. Both teams won all four games in their respective divisions. The three individuals (Kevin Branley, Chris Maheu and Brandon Yrle) who tied for 1st in Senior Division will playoff tomorrow to determine an overall Equations winner.

The team listed first in each match is responsible to see that the match has games. For the conglomerate teams for the 1st round, seat your players in the order they are listed.

Night at the Hive

 

The New Orleans Hornets and the New Orleans Academic Games League hope you can join us to celebrate the end of another successful year of local competition. Students, parents, siblings, relatives, friends, and alums are all invited to watch the Hornets take on the Washington Wizards on Thursday, March 15 at 7pm.

Ticket prices are based on age and affiliation with the league. A portion of all tickets sold will be donated to further develop our organization. Tickets must be purchased in advance through the league. Make checks payable to NOAGL.
