2023 AGLOA Outstanding Senior: Erin Powell

Congratulations to Erin Powell of St. Charles Catholic for being selected as one of the AGLOA Outstanding Seniors for 2023. AGLOA’s Outstanding Senior Award is one of the most prestigious honors awarded at the national tournament. The award recognizes not only a student’s academic accomplishments, but most importantly, their leadership skills, sportsmanship, and community involvement.

Beginning in 2016, Erin was a pivotal member of the St. Charles Borromeo Academic Games team. It makes sense that she would return to her elementary school to continue to teach those students the games of Propaganda, Presidents, Equations, and On-Sets after she moved on to high school. Along with teaching students in the Elementary and Middle Divisions, Erin and her sisters started the Academic Games team at St. Charles Catholic, which required teaching students in the high school divisions the games.

Erin is one of the biggest supporters of her fellow NOAGL members, especially the younger players. At Nationals, she can be found between matches or after a long day of competition giving some of the younger players a pep talk, trying to make them smile after a tough competition, encouraging them to keep playing their best, and reminding them to have fun.

NOAGL thanks Erin for her dedication to promoting the spirit of Academic Games in the New Orleans Academic Games League and beyond.
